Nurturing Creativity: My Journey with Young Photographers through Photography Classes

Hello!

I am absolutely thrilled to share the incredible journey I had during my photography classes held in Mckees Rocks, PA this past summer. I'm Ishara Henry, the proud mentor behind Visuals by Ishara. Let me take you on a heartfelt journey through the lens of my experiences, guiding these talented young souls at the Father Ryan Arts Center, all thanks to the Steel City Impact Program and Focus on Renewal. Grab your cameras and join me as we explore the world of art, focus, composition, and perspective within the walls of the Sto-Rox Library.

Empowering Through Education: My Gratitude to Steel City Impact Program and Focus on Renewal

I can't express enough gratitude to the Steel City Impact Program and Focus on Renewal for making this beautiful experience possible. Their dedication provided a nurturing space for these young photographers, allowing them to explore their creativity under my guidance. The impact they've made on these budding artists is truly inspiring.

Meet My Amazing Students: Passionate & Eager to Learn

In June, I had the pleasure of welcoming a group of ten vibrant souls, each brimming with enthusiasm and ready to soak up every bit of photography wisdom I could offer. It started out rocky but their passion was infectious, turning our classes into lively hubs of creativity. Even in July, with a smaller group of four equally passionate students, the energy was electric, making every session a memorable one.

BEYOND THE LENS: A WORLD OF FUN WITH FOCUS, COMPOSITION, AND PERSPECTIVE

These classes were more than just photography lessons; they were immersive experiences into the world of storytelling through images. Picture this: exhilarating photo walks that sparked their creativity, challenging assignments that pushed their boundaries, and lessons that went far beyond the technicalities of DSLR cameras. Focus, composition, and perspective became their tools for self-expression.

THE STO-ROX LIBRARY: WHERE CREATIVITY SOARED

A heartfelt thanks to the Father Ryan Arts Center, affectionately known as the Sto-Rox Library, for providing us with DSLR cameras. These tools transformed our classes into hands-on adventures, where every student had the freedom to experiment, learn, and most importantly, enjoy the process. Under my guidance, these young photographers didn’t just learn about photography; they discovered the joy of nurturing creativity. Their imaginations ran wild, and every click felt like capturing a piece of their souls.

A BRIGHT FUTURE: CAPTURING MEMORIES, ONE CLICK AT A TIME

The knowledge gained, the friendships formed, and the art created will forever be etched in my heart. I didn’t just teach photography; Iignited a lifelong passion, leaving an indelible mark on their creative journey. I'm so excited to have the privilege of being able to do it again in the fall and I can't wait to see what memories we create together.

A massive thanks to the Steel City Impact Program, Focus on Renewal, and the Father Ryan Arts Center for this unforgettable experience. Get ready for more inspiring stories from me, where every click captures a moment, and every moment tells a unique, beautiful story.

Keep clicking, keep creating, and most importantly, keep dreaming!

With creative warmth,

Ishara Henry
